One of Calgary’s oldest neighborhoods while simultaneously being referred to as one of Calgary’s most desirable as well, Parkhill/Stanley Park is tucked between Mission Road to the north, Macleod Trail to the east, Crescent Boulevard to the south, and Elbow River to the west. With a population just above 1,500 residents, Parkhill/Stanley Park has the unique privilege of being a neighborhood containing a variety of home designs. From the community’s inception in 1910 up until today, the neighborhood has Victorian homes from Calgary’s earliest days right up until the more common modern designs. The mix of architecture that encompasses the neighborhood is nearly an attraction onto itself for visitors. With an area redevelopment plan in place for Parkhill/Stanley Park, it’s a promise to keep the community relevant far into the decades to come.

Public school students of the area are designated to attend Rideau Park elementary and junior high, and Western Canada senior high school. Meanwhile, Catholic school students of the neighborhood attend St. Gerard elementary, St. Augustine elementary and junior high, and Bishop Grandin senior high school.

Parkhill/Stanley Park is also within walking distance to the shops, restaurants, and boutiques that line 4th street and 17th avenue. The downtown core is only a few minutes up the Macleod Trail as well. The neighborhood also benefits from the 52-acre Stanley Park that has an outdoor swimming pool, barbeque pits, a picnic area, and lawn bowling greens. The area redevelopment plan currently put in place promises to replace the more industrial lands near the LRT station with a mix of commercial and residential uses.

Calgary Transit has a dozen stops that line each border of Parkhill/Stanley Park, allowing residents to make it out to different parts of the city with no hassle.

The community also benefits from the 39th avenue LRT station.

With an interesting mix of different property designs, the short commute to downtown and the shopping district of 4th and 17th, and the beautiful green space that accompanies the community, Parkhill/Stanley Park is a must-see neighborhood in which once a resident moves in, rarely do they ever leave.

For these reasons and others, Parkhill/Stanley Park is one of the top communities in all of Calgary and consistently thought of as such.
