There’s certainly always a truth to a name. Woodlands is a residential secluded neighborhood at the southwestern edge of Calgary. With over 6,200 residents that call it home, the area has the Fish Creek Provincial Park to its’ south, 24th Street to its west, Anderson Road to its’ north, and 14th Street to its’ east. Originally established in 1976, the neighborhood primarily consists of single-family dwellings which are known to attract many young families looking to settle down on a property of their own. The size of the neighborhood is quite large for a Calgary community. For instance, the Canyon Meadows golf course is contained in its’ entirety within the borders of Woodlands. Despite its’ secluded nature, the routes that sit along its’ edges allow residents the opportunity to travel to the nearby Glenmore Park, small retail outlets, and the Southcentre Mall which is located just a minute down Anderson Rd.

Public school students attend the nearby Woodlands elementary, Woodman junior high, and Henry Wise Wood senior high school while Catholic students attend St. Jude elementary, St. Stephen junior high, and Bishop Grandin senior high school. With the location of both elementary schools in the local area, many families choose to make the move to Woodlands to better accommodate their family lifestyle which the community works to promote.

Calgary Transit offers multiple stops along 24th Street and Woodpark Blvd. The Anderson LRT and Canyon Meadows LRT are also located nearby.

Woodlands is an indisputably beautiful place to live and to grow up. It benefits from having some of the lowest crime rates in all of the city, is far enough away from the city for residents to get at the small town feel, has local elementary schools, many opportunities to connect with Mother Nature, and offers transportation and access to major routes to take you anywhere you may want to travel in the city. There’s a reason that this area has been attracting eyes from all areas of the city and that’s because Woodlands is the vision of what the future ought to be. For many families it’s the future that they’re going to get. Don’t be left out.
