Country Hills

With a population just over 3,700 residents, Country Hills prides itself on maintaining a sense of community as it serves to address the many needs of its’ varied residents. Originally established in the northwest quadrant of Calgary in 1990, Country Hills is bounded by Country Hills Boulevard to its north, Beddington Trail to the south, Harvest Hills Boulevard to its’ east, and by the Country Hills golf course and West Nose Creek  to its’ southwest. The brand new community of Country Hills Village is located in the northeast of this neighborhood as well. The Northern Hills Community Association also works to meet the needs of this neighborhood as well as those that surround it with several sports programs offered to local residents and access granted to the local Cardel Place with multiple skating rinks, gymnasiums, an aquatic complex, and workout area.

Public school students that live north of the golf course attend Alex Munro elementary, Colonel Irvine junior high, and James Fowler senior high school while those that live south of the golf course attend Simons Valley elementary, Simon Fraser junior high, and Queen Elizabeth senior high school. Catholic school students attend the Ascension of Our Lord elementary and junior high, and Notre Dame senior high school.

Country Hills Town Centre is located within the neighborhood and offers an urban sophistication while retaining a sense of retail charm with over fifty (50) unique shops, boutiques, and services for residents to browse. This area of the city has been rapidly expanding this past decade with many examples of urban planning and development proposals coming to fruition. Developments continue to occur. Country Hills is quite a ways away from downtown Calgary however 4^th Street provides a direct route to downtown Calgary which many residents use.

Those that don’t have vehicles have the luxury of being within walking distance at all times of a Calgary Transit bus stop that will take them to nearly anywhere they want to go in the city. There is also an LRT expansion presently in the planning process to provide residents with easy access to the subway line.
