Crestmont Community Description

Just south of the Trans-Canada Highway and at the southwest edge of the city one will find the quaint neighborhood of Crestmont. With a population that has now grown to nearly 1,500 residents spread out over 475 dwellings, Crestmont has been awarded the title of Calgary’s Most Ambitious Community. While it may not draw much notice on a map and it is seemingly disguised as a detour off the Trans-Canada, the neighborhood of Crestmont is an interesting mix of rural country, Calgary wetlands, and new developments. The Rocky Mountains sit patiently in the background and the rural nature of the surrounding area is a major part of Crestmont’s design – over 30% of the community is dedicated to the protection of the area’s aspen forest, wetlands, and its array of wildlife. With its miles of beautiful untouched nature, Crestmont is a destination spot for the true adventure seeker who still desires a little bit of the city.

Crestmont’s public school students attend Belvedere-Parkway Elementary, Thomas B. Riley Junior High, and Bowness Senior High School. The area’s Catholic school students are assigned to attend Our Lady of the Assumption K-9 Elementary, St. Sylvester Junior High, and St. Mary’s Senior High School.

With a plentiful selection of activities in the nearby area, Crestmont provides a quality escape from the downtown vibe while still being close enough at only twenty minutes away to easily make it into the city whenever need be. Though the centre of Calgary is still a fair distance away, the Crowfoot Shopping Centre and the Westhills Towne Centre bring together many commercial opportunities for residents to enjoy.

The Canada Olympic Park, the Westside Recreation Center, and the Crowfoot YMCA are also in the neighborhood to offer families the opportunity to partake in several recreational activities. Those same families may be able to one day take advantage of sending their kids to a secondary education institution such as the University of Calgary, Mount Royal College, or SAIT – all within a moment’s commute from Crestmont.

Calgary Transit presently has less than a dozen stops spread out over Crestmont in order to assist residents in getting to other areas of the city at an affordable cost.

With development ensuring to continue in the years to come, Crestmont is one of Calgary’s few neighborhoods that bring together the lakes, the mountains, and activities that are sure to offer everyone in the family a splendid time! With the heart of Calgary set twenty minutes away, the neighborhood enjoys its privacy and the value that these advantages bring to the properties at hand.
