Eagle Ridge Community Description and Information
With amenities such as the Heritage Park Historical Village and the Rockyview General Hospital in close proximity, the Eagle Ridge neighborhood maintains valuable properties in a premiere area. Calgary’s southwest does not have a finer community than this. Eagle Ridge sits between 14th Street to the east, Glenmore Trail to the north, Heritage Drive to the south, and the Glenmore Reservoir to the west. The neighborhood was originally established in the early 1960s and has since built its population up to a little over 400 residents spread across 110 dwellings. Approximately 10% of the housing is used for renting purposes and the median household income of Eagle Ridge sits at $275,000.
Public school students in the area attend Chinook Park Elementary, Woodman Junior High, and Henry Wise Wood Senior High while Catholic school students are assigned to attend St. Augustine Elementary and Junior High before finishing their education at Bishop Grandin Senior High.
Eagle Ridge is well known for the vivid beauty that surrounds it and the green space that hugs the neighborhood, assisting it in becoming one of Calgary’s premiere waterfront communities. The bike paths, boat docks, and the Weaselhead Flats hiking paths that are all a part of the Glenmore Reservoir area offer a multitude of recreational activities that appeal to every member of the family. The Heritage Park Historical Village is a popular destination for tourists and Calgarians who wish to learn a little more about Calgary history. The community association also offers a range of different holiday events throughout the year for events such as Halloween, through the winter, and to celebrate various events in the junior soccer season.
The Chinook Center is found within close proximity to the Eagle Ridge neighborhood which can be used to treat much of a resident’s shopping needs. The Heritage Hill Shopping Centre is also found nearby as well as a cluster of local businesses seen two minutes south of Eagle Ridge along the corners of 14th Street and 90th Avenue.
Calgary Transit offers several stops throughout Eagle Ridge primarily along 14th Street to assist residents in their commute to other parts of the city. The city’s own LRT system also has a station in close proximity which offers a fast way to make it to the downtown centre as well as to other parts of Calgary.
Recognized for its waterfront and waterfront-like properties, Eagle Ridge is a family-friendly neighborhood with a fun atmosphere and a high number of recreational activities year-round for all members of the community to enjoy. With the Glenmore Reservoir offering much of the charm the neighborhood has come to enjoy, Eagle Ridge is ideal for first-time buyers as well as to experienced homeowners who wish to find their own piece of Calgary set amongst a tight, serene community.
