Haysboro Community Information and Description

Catering to its residential base, Haysboro remains a neighborhood set up on the outskirts of world-class shopping, dining, and commercial opportunities only set to grow in the coming decades. In Calgary’s southwest, Haysboro is bounded between Heritage Drive to the north, Macleod Trail to the east, 98th Avenue to the south, and 14th Street and the Glenmore Reservoir to the west. Maintaining a population of near 7,000 residents and growing, Haysboro was originally established in the late 1950s on land owned by Harry Hays, an important MP in Lester Pearson’s government as well as a Calgary agriculture icon and a former mayor of Calgary.

Residents of the neighborhood benefit from close proximity to major transportation routes including the popular Elbow Drive which bisects the community. The residents of the neighborhood maintain a median household income of approximately $52,000 and roughly 33% of the residential properties in the neighborhood are condominiums or apartments.

The Glenmore Reservoir is a major theme of Haysboro and this area of Calgary. There are a handful of green spaces spread across the neighborhood with some of these being regular stations for recreational activities hosted by the community association including tennis, hockey, senior programs, youth programs, and fitness and dance. The Macleod Trail features dozens and dozens of businesses that include groceries, shopping, and restaurants – everything a resident would need in their day-to-day.

Calgary Transit utilizes multiple stops alongside the major streets of Haysboro with frequent pick-ups throughout the neighborhood. The LRT system also operates in Haysboro’s east which is a favourite transportation method among many residents.
