Midnapore Community Information

First established as a Calgary community in 1977, the neighborhood of Midnapore is a desirably placed southeastern residential neighborhood now built as a home for nearly 7,000 residents. Midnapore is bounded to the northeast by Fish Creek Provincial Park, by Sun Valley Boulevard to the south, and by Macleod Trail. With dozens of amenities nearby, direct access to the city’s downtown, and a nearby LRT station, Midnapore is well preserved and is an ideal space for a downtown worker desiring a small town residential feel. With an interesting mix of properties to attract diverse demographics, Midnapore also contains a 30-acre manmade lake which is often used by residents in the summertime and wintertime for various purposes.

Public school students of Midnapore attend Midnapore Elementary, MidSun Junior High, and Centennial Senior High School. Catholic school students attend Father Whelihan Elementary and Junior High before finishing their education at Bishop O’Byrne Senior High School.

Residents of Midnapore are privileged to several amenities including Midnapore Mall, a community centre, and series of fast food restaurants that occupy properties nearby. The business section of the neighborhood is well regarded with several offices for various city, education, religious, real estate, and business services. Midnapore is also the home to a number of historic city sites including two early 20th Century churches.

Despite its importance to many businesses and to the city, the community still offers much fun to younger generations with access to Calgary’s pathway system. Often times, families will take advantage of the pathways and/or the lake and make a day out of it as Midnapore has its fair share to explore. The neighborhood’s own manmade lake is used year-round, for water sports in the summertime and skating in the wintertime. Midnapore boasts some exquisite properties with some that border the lake and others that border Fish Creek Provincial Park, with a suitable amount of privacy. There’s a wide variety of wildlife that are native to Midnapore and are regularly seen by residents including deer, foxes, and wild rabbits among other animals.

Calgary Transit offers several stops at various corners of Midnapore in order to assist residents in visiting other areas of Calgary at an affordable cost. There is additionally an LRT station within the community that serves as a direct route to downtown Calgary for those that do not own a vehicle and cannot use the Macleod Trail.
