Parkland Neighbourhood Information
Since day 1, Calgary has maintained several unique communities throughout its limits that have their own identity onto themselves – Parkland is one of these communities. It is bounded by Canyon Meadows Drive to the north, Bow Bottom Trail to the east, and Fish Creek Provincial Park to the west and south. The southeastern region of Calgary is known for the vast amenities in green space and recreation opportunities, and Parkland is no different in being a neighborhood privy to these advantages. Originally established in 1974, the neighborhood now maintains a population of nearly 4,000 residents who occupy its 1,500 properties. Very little of the land is used for renting purposes and thus the majority of residents are permanent residents of the community.
Parkland’s public school students are assigned to attend the community’s very own Prince of Wales Elementary before moving on to attend Wilma Hansen Junior High and Lord Beaverbrook Senior High School. Catholic school students are afforded the same advantage in attending Parkland’s own St. Philip Elementary before continuing their studies at St. Bonaventure Junior High and Bishop Grandin Senior High School.
Surrounded by green space at all four of its borders, Parkland has access to several parks found within the community as well as to the acclaimed Fish Creek Provincial Park immediately west. This is partly where Parkland’s name was procured from – for its close proximity to these spaces. Offering panoramic views of the ancient trees, the meadows, and the river, Parkland is an exquisite neighborhood for young families or those who are looking to journey into some of Calgary’s most beautiful nature.
Through transportation routes such as Bow Bottom Trail, Canyon Meadows Drive, and Macleod Trail, a Parkland resident can easily access downtown within minutes. For those without transportation, Calgary Transit offers several stops throughout Parkland to accommodate these residents at an affordable cost. One can use Calgary Transit to take them to anywhere they need to be in the city.
Parkland is a neighborhood amongst a small collection of neighborhoods in that area who wish to preserve the parks and wildlife that surround the area. When living in the community of Parkland, it’s evident that it’s a completely separate experience than what we typically associate with living in a major city. The neighborhood offers another way around the city for families, seniors, and professionals. You get to pace yourself in the midst of lakes, fine trails, and green spaces with a residence in Parkland.
