The residential neighborhood of Saddle Ridge can be found in northeast Calgary just east of the Calgary International Airport as well as the Saddle Ridge Industrial Area. Tucked in between 96th Avenue to the north, 68th Street to the east, McKnight Boulevard to the south, and by 36th Street to the west, Saddle Ridge boasts a population of nearly 15,000 Calgarians living amongst a range of affluent properties here in the community. Originally developed in the 1960s as a more rural neighborhood, Saddle Ridge has since underseen an urbanization that has resulted in new properties being built around the commercial hub that is formed with Saddletowne Circle. The city has earmarked the western portion of the community for industrial and commercial development in the coming decades, a commitment that is sure to benefit Saddle Ridge property values.

Public school students in the neighborhood attend Saddle Ridge elementary, Colonel Macleod junior high, and Crescent Heights senior high school. Catholic school students are assigned to attend Light of Christ elementary and junior high before graduating to Bishop McNally senior high school.

The neighborhood is significantly more residential-based than other parts of Calgary and because of that, there is a focus on continued residential developments such as sports fields for the community association and families to utilize, the installation of pathways, and the maintenance of the wetland pond that sits in the heart of Saddle Ridge. Those that are looking for more of a downtown atmosphere aren’t going to find it in Saddle Ridge as the area is more geared towards young families and/or those looking to settle down in a residential-oriented spot while still remaining in Calgary.

Calgary Transit has a large number of stops set up at various locations throughout Saddle Ridge. Though many residents choose to ride the bus, there’s also a C-Train station located at the bottom of the community that is also quite popular with residents of Saddle Ridge.

Saddle Ridge residents enjoy the green spaces of the community, the separation afforded to them from the rest of the city, and close proximity to an industrial area with a wide range of employment. The Saddle Ridge experience won’t suit everyone’s interests but those that are looking for a residential area within the confines of the city are going to be welcomed with open arms.
