Sage Hill

The neighborhood of Sage Hill is one of five communities located within the Symons Valley area set amongst the rolling hills, abundant green space, and breathtaking mountain views known to the area. At the northern edge of the city, Sage Hill is accessible via the Shaganappi Trail to its’ west, 144^th Avenue to its’ north, and the Symons Valley Road to its’ east. Sage Hill’s design was one directed towards attracting a more family friendly community with a number of parks, tot lots, and pathways linking into a naturalized pond frequented by some of Alberta’s fine wildlife. The West Nose Creek flows through the eastern portion of the community which adds a lot of attraction to the area for families looking to raise their children in an area that is geared more towards the country lifestyle as opposed to the typical Calgary inner city living.

Public school students in Sage Hill attend Hawkwood elementary, Georges P. Vanier junior high, and James Fowler senior high school while Catholic school students attend Monsignor Anderson elementary, St. Helena junior high, and Notre Dame senior high school.

Sage Hill presently has a population of just over 2,000 residents, according to the 2012 municipal census which was a recorded 53.6% increase from its’ 2011 population of 1,425. The community is still in development presently and is in the process of being incorporated within Calgary city limits as an official Calgary neighborhood.

One of the newest communities in Calgary, Sage Hill is home to local shops and amenities as well as being the location of a large Town Centre presently in development. Sage Hill is featured as a launching point for families as well as businesses who are looking to set up shop along its’ outskirts. The Creekside shopping centre as well as the Cross Iron Mills shopping centre are both located nearby, just a short drive away.

Calgary Transit has roughly a dozen stops set up throughout the northern half of the community to help accommodate residents that don’t have the transportation to visit other parts of the city. These stops can be found along Sage Hill Drive and Sage Valley Drive.
