Seton Community Information

Seton is a Calgary suburban neighborhood that has been under construction for the past few years in the southeastern part of the city. Seton is built in between Deerfoot Trail to the west, Seton Boulevard to the north, and an extension of 52nd Street to the east. Development in this area is ongoing and because of this, there remains a lot of open spaces and undeveloped natural land that gives residents more privacy than they would have in other parts of Calgary. Intended to be a mixture of residential properties and business developments, Seton also benefits from a proposed southeast leg of Calgary’s existing C-Train system.

Public school students in Seton attend the nearby Andrew Sibbald Elementary, Nickle Junior High, and Dr. E. P. Scarlett Senior High School. Catholic school students in Seton attend Don Bosco Elementary and Junior High before moving on to graduate from Bishop Grandin Senior High School.

There are a vast range of amenities offered to residents of Seton. In addition to the many proposed developments in the nearby area, the South Health Campus is a 44-acre hospital that originally opened in 2011 and is situated right in the heart of Seton. The neighborhood was originally built as a part of the beginning of the south urban district in Calgary – shop smart, work close, and live easy are the three founding principles upon which Seton was conceived. By 2030, Seton’s amenities and services will serve the equivalent of Alberta’s third largest city – 120,000 people will inhabit the surrounding area. This vibrant community was conceived and created by Brookfield Residential in partnership with the City of Calgary, resident businesses, top architects, and other leading consultants.

Calgary Transit presently has over a dozen stops in the neighbouring Auburn Bay and are in the planning stages of setting up multiple stops throughout Seton for residents to gain access to other parts of the city at an affordable rate.

In this vibrant neighborhood, one has easy access to work, shopping, entertainment, education, health, and fitness all within the borders of one community. Highly appealing to young professionals, Seton acts as an anchor for Calgary’s southeast as it serves to attract many eyes. In addition, presently in development, there are extended care living residences as well as mature adult living residences in various stages of completion.

Seton is one of the most comprehensive mixed-use developments in North America with over 2.5 million sq. ft. of office and retail space, a 16-acre regional park, 1,300 multi-family residences, and an active main street. With the Gateway Retail District holding strong for southeastern residents looking to shop and engage with local businesses, Calgary’s newest hospital recently opened, and a bouquet of further amenities, Seton is set to have the youngest average age population in all of Calgary within the next 10 years.
