Originally built and developed throughout the 1970s, Silver Springs is a residential neighborhood found in the northwest quadrant of Calgary. With a population of 9,000 residents, Silver Springs is bounded to the north by Crowchild Trail, to the east by Sarcee Trail, to the south by Bow River, and to the west by Nose Hill Drive. The community benefits from its’ proximity to the Silver Springs golf course found in the eastern part of the neighborhood as well as the Bowmont Natural Area which is situated just south of Silver Springs. The Silver Springs neighborhood benefits from supporting two separate commercial centres which sets alongside the massive amount of green space that encompasses its’ southern half. The Bowmont Natural Area in particular, otherwise known as “The Ravine” or “The Gully”, is a favourite amongst residents in the Silver Springs area.

Public school students are fortunate in proximity to be attending the Silver Springs elementary, W.O. Mitchell elementary, F.E. Osborne junior high, and Bowness senior high school. Catholic school students are afforded a similar luxury in distance with attendance at Msgr. Doyle elementary, St. Vincent junior high, and St. Francis senior high school.

Tree-lined and recognized by residents for its’ vibrancy, Silver Springs is more than just a community on the north bluff of the Bow River. Many residents take up a home here in the neighborhood for the green spaces; miles of walking paths, bike trails, and opportunities to visit the Bowness Park and the Canada Olympic Park for activities offered year-round. Calgary Transit offers over two dozen stops throughout Silver Springs and surrounding areas to allow residents to travel anywhere they may want to within the limits of Calgary.
