With a population of just under 2,200 people, the neighborhood of Vista Heights is settled in between the Trans-Canada Highway to the south, Deerfoot Trail to the west, and the South Airways Industrial Area which borders the community at its north and east ends. Vista Heights was established in the early 1960s and has grown to be a popular area in northeastern Calgary. The majority of the properties in the Vista Heights area are single-family detaches homes and row houses, with approximately half of these being used for renting purposes.

Public school students of Vista Heights attend the neighborhood’s own Vista Heights elementary school before graduating to attend Colonel Macleod junior high and Crescent Heights senior high. Catholic school students attend St. Alphonsus elementary and junior high before graduating to St. Mary’s or St. Francis’ senior high school.

The Vista Heights area benefits from being in close proximity to amenities such as the Fox Hollow Golf Club, main transportation routes such as Deerfoot Trail, the Sunridge Mall, the Deerfoot Mall, and the Calgary International Airport. There’s a sufficient amount of green space located in Vista Heights as well as in the neighborhoods that surround it, which are of interest to the many families that live here. The downtown part of Calgary as well as the Rocky Mountains is easily viewable from this part of the city. Furthermore, there’s much employment offered nearby in the restaurants, malls, and businesses here as well as the industrial area contained herein.

Calgary Transit has over a dozen stops set up throughout the community to assist residents who want to ride to other areas of the City at an affordable rate.
